you’ll need a cattle prod to quicken it up though.
(i’m aware of the advertising slogan of that era)

Could always ask his brother for help. He’s like a rock in these intances.

I’ve always loathed those for some reason.

I always liked the look of the Beretta. Still do. Too bad it was rubbish underneath that sharp-looking body.

Go drive a GTZ.
They are a complete riot.

The colour matched wheels are a nice touch.

My brother briefly owned a used Beretta that came with a trailer hitch and adjustable air suspension in the rear. I have no idea what some was trying to tow with a Chevy Beretta.

They aren’t. My wife had the dumpy looking sedan version, the Corsica, as her first car. That car was a tank. She drove it for 13 years, and when she decided to get rid of it to buy her first new car, all it needed wer e brakes. Unfortunately that was three months before we met, or I would have bought the thing for a daily beater.

I know these are kinda hot trash, but when I was in highschool the Beretta was a cool car and there will always be a soft spot in my heart for them. If I ever have obscene amounts of money and a pristine one of these roll across the auction block you can bet your ass I’m gonna bring it home.

My cousin had a red one as a teenager, with a sound system of questionable quality installed and played at far too loud volumes. Got some good memories of that piece of junk.

Quad4 HO/manual trumps teal every time.

Say what you want about the performance , it looked kinda nice.

That one’s probably a blast. I had a hard time finding one back in the day, and it would probably be even more of a challenge today. I did drive a few Ford Probes, a competitor to the Beretta, and they were miles ahead in terms of interior design, material quality and fit-and-finish. The V6 with a manual transmission was an amazingly good combination.

I’m not sure its a ‘that bad’ sort of loathing. It’s more of a “teenager into art at the time they came out thinking - who did the half-assed modification of the 80s Ford Thunderbird into that design” sort of loathing, and it’s just sort of stuck through the decades.

IMO, the Probe felt cheap and the V6 lacked enough low end to be fun for a daily.
I prefer the clean, simple, well laid out interior of the Beretta to the cluttered, swoopy layout of the Probe.
Driving both, the Beretta felt punchy throughout the rpm range, while the Probe felt starved for power until it was over 4k. The Beretta rode better, while still offering tight/responsive handling.
